ABC includes 10 in-home, videotaped, one-hour sessions to help residential caregivers understand a child's cues and practice appropriate responses. After the sessions, families will receive a video montage.

The treatment can be completed in multiple placements to help with transitions.

Age Range: six months to four years


Eligibility

Children may be eligible if:

  • Their family is involved with DCFS at any level.
  • They have experienced early adversity including abuse, neglect, domestic violence, drug exposure, and more.

Families may not be eligible if:

  • The caregiver spends less than half the week with the child.
  • English is their second language.

This service is specifically for children and families that are actively involved with Cuyahoga County’s Division of Children and Family Services. If you think you may need these services for your family, please let your caseworker or child protection specialist know.
