FamilySpace provides safe and fun spaces for families with children birth through age 5 to meet, socialize and receive information and services based on their needs and interests.

The program meets three times a week at several local libraries. During these times and in these spaces, families with young children can come together with other families to connect, learn, share and grow together. A trained staff person is onsite to help families connect with resources, services and each other.

Each FamilySpace location consists of the following features to support families:

• Family-friendly spaces, materials, and activities designed to meet the needs of families
• Onsite trained professional staff during the program’s hours
• Referrals to services and resources such as:
  • Home Visiting
  • Job Training
  • Early Childhood Mental Health Services
  • Substance Abuse Prevention Services
  • Early Literacy Programs
  • Health/Nutritional Services/Lead Screening
  • Other interests as identified

Family input is a key part of how the FamilySpace locations operate. Neighborhood-based Family Advisory Committees guide the programming to meet family interests and needs and to achieve equity through shared decision making.
