Child Support Enforcement

The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) is responsible for enforcing child, spousal, and medical support provisions in child support orders. This includes both, collecting money owed for support and ensuring that ordered health insurance coverage is in place.

The easiest way to enforce your order for child support is by attaching the wages of the party responsible to pay the child support (the obligor). Learn more about that process on our Income Withholding page.

A case is in default when it is at least one full month’s obligation in arrears. When an obligor does not consistently meet the monthly obligation on a case, they are in default, OCSS may initiate additional enforcement actions including, but not limited to:

Certain actions are needed to maintain child support orders.

  • To ensure children have health care coverage
  • To ensure that the amounts of support ordered are consistent with the changing circumstances of the parents
  • To ensure that orders are timely stopped when necessary

You can learn more about these with the links below:

OCSS reviews cases and takes the appropriate action on an individual, case by case, basis. Therefore, it is extremely important to respond to any contact by OCSS.
